The Sir Keith Park train being put into position in the Main Arena at The Great Dorset Steam Fair 2022.

Thursday at the Great Dorset Steam Fair was very busy – more than I remember any other first day being. Was that because the steam fair hadn’t taken place for three years? Despite the cloudy weather which, at times looked like it might rain, it was a great day with lots to see and do. The sun finally made an appearance around 3:15 pm.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday were mostly baking hot, with blue skies and sunshine the whole time.

On Saturday 27th August, Martin Oliver (Great Dorset Steam Fair MD), the Show Chaplain and steam fair staff held a short memorial service to remember all those lost during the last three years. Every steam engine owner on site was invited to blow their vehicle’s whistle at midday, in unison with others.
