Travellers and Their Horses Enjoy a Summer Visit to Bournemouth Beach
On Saturday 25th July, a large group of travellers arrived at Bournemouth beach with their horses, ponies and traditional horse-drawn traps, after making the journey from Poole. Along the way, the travellers stopped at Parkstone Park, at Ashley Cross, to rest and water the animals before continuing to the seafront.
Once at Bournemouth beach, many of the horses and ponies were taken into the sea by the Pier, providing them with a welcome opportunity to cool down in the warm weather. The sight of the horse-drawn traps and animals on Bournemouth’s seafront attracted plenty of attention from beachgoers and passers-by, many of whom took photos on their phones and patted the horses.
Dorset Police maintained a discreet presence, patrolling the area to ensure public safety. Despite a diverse selection of people and animals, there were no reports of trouble or disorder, and the visit passed peacefully without incident.
