Celebrating agriculture, countryside traditions and rural life

The Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show returned for another successful two-day celebration of agriculture, countryside traditions and rural life. Held at the Turnpike Showground near Motcombe, Dorset, this long-established event attracts thousands of visitors from near and far.

From prize-winning livestock and equestrian competitions to trade stands, local food producers and craft displays, the Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show is one of the South West’s foremost agricultural events.

Cattle, sheep, horses and heavy horses took part in a wide range of competitions and demonstrations, and there were displays of rabbits and poultry. The Heavy Horse Village allowed a close-up look at these lovely working animals.

Arena attractions included jousting, the Tigers Motorcycle Display Team, gun dog demonstrations and the Grand Parade, where champion animals and exhibitors gather to showcase the best of British farming. There were also many other exhibitors, countryside organisations, vintage machinery, horticultural displays, as well as local food and drink.

The date of the 2026 Show will be 19th/20th August.
